The artwork features a head-and-shoulders portrait of an older man facing slightly to the right. He has deep-set eyes, a prominent nose, a full beard and mustache, and combed-back hair. He wears a dark-buttoned coat and a white ruffled collar. The portrait is framed within an oval with ornate designs including pillars, scrolls, and a collection of fruit. Above him are an inkwell with a quill and a book. The background is intricately decorated with fine lines. At the bottom is a Latin inscription on a scroll.
