This is a portrait of Philippus Cluverius, showing his upper torso and head. He is facing slightly to his left but looking directly at the viewer. Cluverius has a neatly trimmed mustache and beard, curly hair swept back, and is wearing a dark garment with a large ruffle collar. The background is dark and textured, outlined by a lighter rectangular frame. Below the portrait, the inscription reads "Philippus Cluverius, Geographus."
