The engraving shows a man facing forward with a thoughtful expression. He has a high forehead with receding hair, a pointed nose, and a neat beard and mustache. He wears a ruffled collar and an elaborate garment with buttons. He is holding an object in one hand and his other hand is near a book or pedestal. In the background is a coat of arms within an oval frame, surrounded by Latin text and decorative patterns.
