Artist, French, born 1570

The image depicts Sir Martin Frobisher in a three-quarter view from the knees up, standing confidently. He has a strong face with prominent eyebrows and a mustache. His short, receding hair suggests age. Frobisher wears an armor breastplate with a high ruff around his neck. A patterned doublet is visible beneath the armor. He holds a roll or rod in his right hand. A coat of arms with detailed heraldry is in the background. The rest of the background features engraved lines and a sea-faring theme. An inscription at the bottom identifies him as "St Martin Frobisher Knight" with a poetic verse.
