Artist, American, 1901 - 1990

The image shows a group of hooded figures gathered closely together, dressed in large dark cloaks that cover most of their bodies. One figure is bent over towards the foreground. The figures' faces are obscured by their hoods, revealing worn, gaunt features with prominent cheekbones and hollowed eyes. Some of their hair is visible. The figures seem to merge into the darkness, and one of them appears to be reaching out or holding a child. There are no visible jewelry or objects. In the background, there are thin, bare trees under a dark and hatched sky, creating a bleak and cold atmosphere.
