The image shows a man standing with one hand on the hilt of a sword and the other on his hip. He has a mustache, beard, and wears a hat with a feather, a doublet with epaulets and a ruffled collar, a fur-trimmed cape, and a medallion hanging from his neck. He has a sheathed sword on his belt. There are drapery curtains in the background and a table with an open book in the lower left corner. A poem is inscribed at the bottom of the image.
