The image shows a man seated, facing forward. He has deep-set eyes, a straight nose, a pointed beard, and wavy hair combed back from his forehead. He wears elaborate period clothing with a high lace collar and a richly decorated doublet. The man holds a small book in his left hand and a scroll in his right hand. The background displays thick drapery with embellishments and ornate crests on each side of the oval frame encircling the portrait.
