The image is an engraving depicting John Kersey. He is shown in a seated position, angling slightly to the right but facing forward. He is dressed in a formal garment with a wide, turned-down collar. The engraving has an ornate background with the text "IOHN KERSEY BORNE AT BODICOT NERE BANBURY IN THE COVNTY OF OXFORD A.DN 1616." Below the oval frame is a decorative banner with the Latin phrase "Vox audita perit. Litera scripta manet." On either side of the banner are small textbooks or paper sheets with mathematical formulas.
