The image shows a bust-length portrait of a man in an oval frame. The man is facing forward with his head slightly turned to his right. He has a composed expression, a long prominent nose, and his eyes are looking outward. He has long, wavy hair cascading down past his shoulders and is wearing a garment with a decorative pattern at the collar or tie. Additional fabric is draped around his shoulders. The portrait is surrounded by an ornate oval frame with a decorative, engraved border. Below the portrait is an inscription that reads "THOMAS ASBORNE, Earl of Danby, Lord high Treasurer of England," on a block-like surface resembling part of a pedestal. The background features fine line engravings around the oval frame.
