The image is an engraved portrait of a man named Jacob Cooke. He is portrayed from the upper body up, slightly turned towards the left but looking directly at the viewer. He has long, curly hair, a prominent nose, and deep-set eyes. He wears a dark coat and a large, white necktie or cravat tied in a bow. The portrait is within an oval frame against a patterned background of fine lines and shading that darken towards the edges. There is an inscription in Latin below the oval frame and the artist's signature "R. White fecit" near the bottom right corner.
