This is a portrait engraving of a man within an oval frame. The man has long, dark hair, a mustache, and a neutral expression. He wears a dark garment with a wide collar and a cravat or necktie. His right hand is visible on the edge of the frame. The frame is decorated with the name "SOMNERUS GULIELMUS," a face motif, and a dark, textured background. Below the frame is a plaque with the inscription "MORIBUS ANTIQUIS," a heraldic crest, and the artist's signature, M. Burghers.
