Albrecht Dürer

Artist, German, 1471 - 1528

The image shows three figures from head to toe: a man, a woman, and an infant. The man on the left wears a turban and a long robe, holding the robe with his right hand while carrying a bow in his left hand. The woman, standing on the right, also wears a turban and carries the infant in her arms. She supports the child with her left arm and grips the fabric of her dress with her right hand. The woman’s clothing appears to be loose-fitting and draped around her like a robe. The infant is cradled close to her, wrapped in a small fabric. The background is plain with simple shading on the ground, and an artistic monogram 'AD' is at the bottom center of the image.
