Private collection, Rome, by 1941.[1] (Antiquaria, Rome) on consignment January 1950 to (Adolph Loewi, Los Angeles);[2] by whom sold 12 May 1950 to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, New York;[3] gift 1961 to NGA.

[2] According to Loewi records. The Antiquaria Gallery in Rome was run by Alessandro Morandotti, who had been director of the Loewi gallery in Venice and took over operations of it in 1939 when the Loewi family left Italy. Morandotti moved the business to Rome and renamed it Antiquaria, and eventually acquired the businessfrom Loewi in 1950.
