Episodes from the Life of Christ: Lamentation

probably 18th or 19th century

Northern Italian 18th or 19th Century

The image shows several people gathered closely together in an oval composition. The central figure is lying down with their body partially raised and held by others. Around them are people in various seated and kneeling positions, all adorned with halos. The figures have serene expressions and are dressed in long, draped garments. One figure points upwards, and another has their hands placed on the central figure. In the background, there are three crosses. The image is drawn in a monochromatic style within an oval frame.
