The image shows several men in a swamp, partially submerged in water up to their chests. They are in a bent forward position, moving through the water. One man in the center holds a wide-brimmed hat above his head, while another man to the front right wears cloth-wrapped headgear. They wear period clothing, including coats and neckerchiefs, and some carry long poles or rifles. The background is filled with tall, spindly trees and bushes typical of a swampy environment.
