Her brown hair is parted down the middle and pulled back under a white bonnet with a blue stripe. A small pink flower is tucked behind the ear facing us. A lacy cravat or kerchief lies high on her neck and is fastened with a brooch at her throat. Her tightly fitting bodice is shaded with pale blue, and a shell-pink shawl drapes over her left shoulder, to our right. The smooth skin and contours of her face are drawn in detail, and the remaining areas, including a ledge, clock, and curtain behind her, are loosely sketched.
