The image shows three figures prominently in the foreground - two adults and a child. The adult on the left is an elderly man sitting with his head resting on his hand. To his right is a woman holding an infant close to her chest. The woman is facing forward with her head slightly bowed. The child is shown in the woman's lap, with their arm raised as if reaching. Surrounding them are a large column on the right and foliage on the ground. Above the scene are three cherubs among clouds. The background behind the figures is a textured landscape suggesting trees and possibly a body of water.
