The image is viewed from a slightly elevated perspective. The horizon is in the middle, with a line of bare trees and a windmill to the left. The land close to us is detailed, and the sky above is expansive. The image uses fine lines typical of etching, with cross-hatching for texture. The color palette is monochromatic in sepia and black. Two foxes are close to us, one alert and the other startled in grass and trees. In the distance, small figures walk on ice or snow near the windmill.
