The image shows a rocky coastline with jagged rocks and cliffs spreading from left to center, then sloping downwards to the sea. The horizon is faintly visible with low clouds in the sky. The sketch uses fine brushstrokes and pencil lines on tan paper to depict the shoreline and waves. The color palette is muted with shades of brown and gray. Close rocks are seen in various orientations, and some trees are on a cliff in the distance.
