Artist, French, 1833 - 1914

The image depicts a view from a slightly off-center position on a calm bank, looking through a sparse row of tall, slender trees towards a body of water. The horizon is low, with subtle outlines of trees and shrubbery in the distance on the opposite bank. The artwork uses fine pen strokes with a cross-hatching technique to create texture. The color palette is monochrome, with sepia tones giving a warm, vintage feel. A small boat is tucked close to the trees, partly concealed by underbrush.
