Associated Names
Albrecht Dürer

Artist, German, 1471 - 1528

The image shows a rural setting from an elevated angle. It depicts a village with thatched-roof buildings extending into the distance. Towards the center, the village meets a silhouetted city in the far distance. Past the village, there are hills and mountains with thin, linear clouds above. The scene is detailed and illustrated in black and white. Near us, figures in historical attire stand by a cannon, while a tree trunk frames the left side. The image is monochromatic, using shades of brown and gray to capture the scene.
