Georgia O'Keeffe—Breasts

1919

Alfred Stieglitz

Artist, American, 1864 - 1946

A woman’s nude torso with both breasts, the inner arms, tummy, and top of the pubic area fill this vertical photograph. Though monotone like a black and white photograph, the shading here is silvery, giving the image an ethereal look. The woman’s arms press her breasts with pale nipples close together. Light falls especially across her chest and her stomach and lower arms fall into subtle shadow.
