Artist, Dutch, 1627 - 1692

The image shows a wooded landscape from a slightly elevated angle. A horizon, lined with trees and a distant mountain, is visible about one-third of the way from the top. The brushwork uses soft strokes creating a wash effect for a hazy, atmospheric appearance. The monochromatic palette of gray tones adds a tranquil feel. Silhouetted figures are seen walking on a path, with a textured landscape of trees and foliage. The scene extends to show more simplified figures under trees, rolling hills, and distant rural buildings.
