Artist, French, 1808 - 1879

The image shows two men standing side by side. One man is pointing towards a structure on the right. Both men are dressed in black top hats, striped pants, and dark coats. The man on the left is holding a rolled-up document. Their faces are shaded with subtle details; one man has a visible beard, while the other has a clean-shaven face almost in profile view. Behind them is scaffolding with two workers at different heights. Large stone blocks or debris are at the base of the scaffolding, suggesting a construction area.
