Artist, German, 1564 - 1625

The image shows a drawing of a group of figures in a loose, sketch-like style. In the foreground, a woman is seated holding a child, who is nude, on her lap. The woman's head is slightly tilted to the side, and her hair is styled in an updo. Surrounding them are several other figures, some appearing to be adults, while another smaller figure is slightly behind the woman. The figures are sketched with fluid lines, softly defined features, and some blurred details. The figures wear flowing forms that suggest draped clothing, and the background includes outlines of more figures and possibly fabric or clouds. The sketch is done in brown ink with a reddish wash.
