Artwork history & notes

Provenance

(World Art Medals, Philadelphia);[1] purchased 7 November 1985 by NGA.
[1] The medal was purchased "on a recent trip to England" according to a letter from Robert M. Levin of World Art Medals. The letter notified NGA that it was the high bidder on Lot 21 (another example of the same medal) in World Art Medals' sale of 27 September 1985, and offered the medal purchased in England as a substitution. This was the medal purchased by NGA.
