Bridal Veil Fall, Yosemite National Park, California

c. 1927, printed 1981

Ansel Adams

Artist, American, 1902 - 1984

A misty waterfall drops vertiginously from a towering, sheer cliff face that nearly reaches the top edge of this vertical black and white photograph. Spray drifts in hazy clouds down the height and especially around the base of the falls, curling up into the trees that frame the view in front of us. Only a sliver of gray sky is shown above the cliff and falls.
