Artist, American, 1903 - 1975

The image shows a woman and a child seated on a patterned bench. The woman has curly hair, wears a dark jacket with a high collar, and a round hat with a contrasting lighter band. She holds the child close with one arm around their shoulders. The child rests their head on the woman's chest and looks towards the camera. Both are wearing dark clothing. In the woman's lap, there is a small closed box and part of her handbag is visible. The background shows a dimly-lit interior, possibly a train or subway car, with a window and tiled walls visible.
