The image shows a landscape scene with a body of water and a distant mountain. The horizon line is formed by a hill and the mountain, with a large tree close by framing the scene. There are two figures in the lower right: one waving on the riverbank and the other in a rowboat. The brushstrokes are detailed, showing textured foliage and water. The color palette is sepia. In the distance, there is a mountain and a small cluster of buildings.
