Artist, Venetian, 1697 - 1768

The image shows a canal and surrounding buildings from a slightly elevated perspective. The horizon is in the upper third of the image, with trees in the distance above the canal's lock gate structure. The detailed artwork features fine lines depicting textures of stone buildings and a wooden canal boat. The color palette is monochromatic, in shades of gray. Figures are visible near the canal, some wearing long dresses and hats, with one person selling goods at a table. More people are scattered along the quay and inside buildings in the background.
