Early armorial stamp in black (probably Italian, not in Lugt); John Skippe [1742-1812] (Lugt 2798), Herefordshire; unidentified crest (nineneeth century?) stamp in gold (Lugt 2798); by descent from Skippe to Edward Holland Martin [b. 1900], Gloustershire; (sale, Christie's, London, 21 November 1958, lot 207); purchased by Ian Woodner, New York; by descent to Dian Woodner, New York, 1990; given to NGA.
