Inscriptions

…on sketchbook cover, upper right in ball-point pen: 13 DRAWINGS 1973 / Richard Tuttle '85; on back of sketchbook in ball-point pen: 22 MARCH '85 / This notebook is a Monument to drawing going / out of existence-the first drawing being very much / a drawing (about drawing space), and the drawings seem / to me to advance toward not drawing (out of drawing / space). This seems to me to be true to a situation / in the 70s, where drawing, so impatient to get over the excessive individuality of the 60s, lost interest in the non-individuality of the 70's- / This is all the more remarkable now, for there / seems to be a return of the interest to the / drawing (drawing space)... / Richard Tuttle; (SEE COMMENTARY FOR INSCRIPTION CONTINUATION)
