Canaletto

Artist, Venetian, 1697 - 1768

The image shows a scenic view with an architectural structure to the left and a river flowing through the middle towards the distance. A stone arch structure is on the left side, with figures under it, and additional figures are visible on the riverbank. The horizon line is low, blending into architectural elements, with distant buildings and a dome on the right. The brushstrokes are detailed and linear, with fine crosshatched lines creating texture and depth. The scene is depicted in monochrome, using black lines on a white background.
