The frame surrounding the portrait is ornate with swirling designs and a shield-like emblem at the bottom featuring a fleur-de-lis and a mountain design. Above the portrait, inscribed within the frame are the words "Ætatis 40. 1647." The background of the image is plain. At the bottom of the frame, the name “Wenceslaus Hollar” is displayed.
