This print shows a woman seated from the waist up, facing the right, bending down to read a wide book in front of her. Her right hand is turning a page of the book, while her left hand is raised to her forehead. She has pale skin, a long nose, and eyes that seem to be partially or entirely closed. Her lips are in a neutral expression. Her hair is styled up behind her head, with loose curls framing her face. She wears a dark, high-necked, long-sleeved dress with buttons down the arms and slightly puffed shoulders. A thin hoop earring is visible on her ear. The background is plain off-white paper.
