The image shows a public gathering with a low horizon line near the bottom third of the composition. The horizon is marked by a grand architectural structure with domed towers. A crowd of people is gathered, dressed in period attire. They are focused towards a central event where smoke and a pyramid-shaped structure can be seen. The artwork features detailed line work with hatching and cross-hatching, typical of an engraving technique. The color palette is monochromatic, dominated by varying shades of black, white, and gray. Large, swirling clouds fill the sky above the gathering.
