This is a painting of a coastal scene with spectators observing the sea. The composition consists of a group of figures seated on a sandy beach facing the sea, with three visible sailboats in the distance. The figures are outlined in bold, dark lines with contrasting blocks of colors. In the background, the horizon features a calm sea rendered in shades of turquoise and pale yellow, with a band of light yellow sky above. On the right side of the image, two figures walk hand-in-hand towards the sea. The left side of the image contains text detailing a theatre program titled "Les Fossiles" for "Le Théâtre Libre".
