Artist, American, 1889 - 1971

The image depicts a dirt path sloping gently downwards, framed by trees on both sides. The horizon is low, meeting the sky where a stand of trees is visible in the distance. The etching technique used creates detailed bare trees with thin branches reaching upwards. The image is monochromatic, using varying shades of black ink on white paper to show light and shadow. The path is shown with grooves and stones, leading between trees on the right and bushes on the left. In the distance, the trees merge together, creating a lacy pattern against the sky.
