The image shows a person in a three-quarter length portrait, seated and slightly turned to the side. The person has refined facial features with delicate contours and is depicted in a monochromatic drawing style. The hair is styled up with a ribbon, and they are wearing an elaborate garment with voluminous, striped fabric and puffed sleeves. The hands are holding a sheet of paper in the foreground. The background is plain with a border of evenly spaced circular stamps or seals.
