This painting is a portrait a man seen from the waist up, looking off to the right. He has light skin and light gray hair styled in curls above his ears. The man has a soft jawline, a wrinkled brow, a long, straight nose, and deep-set eyes. He is wearing a black coat with a high collar and a white ruffled shirt or cravat at the neck. The background is a gradient of muted brown tones, with lighter ones at the center and darker ones at the edges.
