The image depicts an intricate composition of angular and curved lines, with interlocking shapes forming an abstract scene. Human-like figures and a structure resembling a tree are visible, with branches weaving across the image. Patterns suggestive of clouds or foliage are found in the upper portion. To the right, a shape resembling a horse is present. The arrangement of shapes and lines conveys depth and movement, evoking nature and human interaction.

Prelude to Troy (No. 2)

Romare Bearden · 1974 · collagraph in blue on wove Arches paper ·  Accession ID  2000.58.1

The image depicts a composition of bold, jagged shapes and dark lines forming an abstract scene. The black and white contrast creates irregular angular forms that may suggest draped fabric or crumpled paper. In the center, there are fragmented figures or objects in motion. On the right side, a shadowy silhouette hints at a seated figure or a structured object in a partially lit space. The overall impression is a chaotic arrangement reminiscent of a turbulent night or a cluttered studio.
