    This painting shows a person seated with their head bowed down, looking down at a large chicken in their lap. The person has warm yellow skin, deep-set eyes, and thin lips in a neutral expression. They are wearing a red hood and a dark garment with a white collar. The background is dimly lit, although we can see what looks like a stone windowsill on the left with light coming in. The chicken has brown feathers with some white feathers on its wings, and a red comb and wattle.
