Alexander Calder · 1967 · sheet metal, wire, and paint ·  Accession ID  2015.19.3930

The sculpture features abstract forms combining circular and triangular shapes in a dynamic arrangement. It is made from black metal, giving it a sleek appearance. The sculpture consists of sharp angles and pointed edges, standing on three legs, with two circular elements protruding from one side. It has an asymmetrical form and appears to balance delicately despite its seemingly unstable shape, creating an engaging and visually interesting piece against a white background.

Josef Albers · 1965 · oil on hardboard ·  Accession ID  2015.19.228

The image shows two people in full body view. The person on the left is standing and appears to be handing something to the other person. They have a beard and hair styled to the back. The person is wearing an outfit that includes a short tunic. The person on the right is also standing and facing the first person, with simplified facial features and dark hair. This person is wearing a long robe that reaches their ankles. The setting suggests an outdoor scene under a cloudy sky, with the suggestion of the moon above, lending it a textured monochrome background.

The image displays an arrangement of fluid, organic shapes and lines that create an abstract composition. The forms suggest sculpted figures with contoured, swirling bodies that resemble human silhouettes in various postures. Some shapes resemble seated figures on benches or stools, while others appear reclining or upright as if engaged in physical interaction. The overall abstraction invites viewers to interpret the interplay of shapes as familiar forms, such as people or sculptural art, but without realistic depiction.

Henry Moore, Curwen Press, International Exhibitions Foundation · 1975 · color lithograph on T. H. Saunders wove paper ·  Accession ID  2015.19.3394

This print contains various abstract shapes and vibrant colors forming headless humanoid figures and designs. In the upper section, sinuous lines create letters spelling "Sweet sexy Clarice" with decorative patterns. To the right, an abstract tree-like shape in pink and yellow bears the phrase "CLARICE IS A TREE." Below, a series of forms, outlined in bold lines, evoke the image of colorful dresses and bodies with vibrant pink skin, visible arms, and no heads. One shape resembles a creature with a gaping mouth, labeled "Don't let the dragon eat you up." Another shape is depicted with the phrase "Clarice is a bird." A heart shape with spiked edges and the phrase "Here is my heart" adds to the piece. These designs and lines of text are all against an off-white background.

The image depicts a head-and-shoulders view of a person facing forward and sitting upright. The face is rendered in swirling black lines, with eyes behind round spectacles, a prominent nose, and a mouth in a neutral expression. The stylized hair is in a similar swirling line pattern. The person appears to be wearing a garment covering the shoulders, depicted with bold cross-hatching. No visible jewelry or objects are seen, and the background has a dark, heavily cross-hatched texture. The artist's signature, "R. Walkowitz," and the date "1908" are inscribed at the bottom right corner.
