This sculpture is a punching bag embellished with long fringe and geometric patterns made of colorful beads. The punching bag is hung from black straps which are attached to a long red rope with a silver hook. Most of the punching bag is decorated with triangle and diamond shapes created with small beads in bright colors such as blue, red, green, yellow, black, teal, and pink. Among these shapes are beaded words in bright white that appear to circle around the bag; visible to us are the words "HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO SELF." From the bottom of the bag, long, colorful strings hang in layers and pool on the floor, creating a colorful fringe. At the top are sections of blue and red fringe, and below them are sections of yellow and green fringe. The longest section of the fringe, which flows onto the floor, is black, red, yellow, and white. The ends of the long strings lay in a precise circle on the ground.

This appears to be a hanging garment with a horizontal wooden rod through the sleeves, suspending it in the air. The sleeves have a checkered pattern in black and white, while the central part appears to be woven tan fibers, with thin vertical and horizontal lines of fringe interwoven with fluorescent green accents. Beneath this seems to be a vibrant, multicolored design, further accentuated by black and white strips of cloth or ribbon hanging down from each side of the middle section.

This painting shows intersecting blue lines on a green, blue, and yellow background. The lines create a network of abstract shapes resembling human figures, with partial arm and leg outlines on the left and right. The shapes and colors overlap, with the bright yellow sections standing out. The brushstrokes in the painting are thick and visible.

Printed with tones of black, gray, and smoky gray, two oversized hands reach out of an ocean and hold up a masted ship in this horizontal etching, aquatint, and drypoint. Closer to us, the black silhouette of a woman sinks under the surface of the water, face down with her arms thrust back and her mouth gaping open. Her features are exaggeratedly rounded to reference stereotypes historically connected with Black and African people. The wave surges to our left, and the giant hands lift the boat just left of center of the composition. Small in scale, two silhouetted people stand on a flat area to the left. One wears a brimmed, flat-topped hat, a coat with tails, and holds up a tool, perhaps a hoe. The other wears a spiky headdress and skirt and holds up a stalk of sugar cane. The sky is pale gray to either side of a plume of white and a black void with jagged edges, which spreads like a seeping stain down the middle of the sky. Under the image and across the bottom of the page, the artist wrote “A.P. VI/VIII” to the left and “KW 2010” to the right lightly in graphite.
