The image depicts the upper half of a man seated in a chair. He is posed slightly to the side, with his body angled to the right and his head turned towards the viewer. The man has a fair complexion, dark eyes, and short, dark, curly hair. He is wearing a reddish-brown coat with gold buttons, a white waistcoat, and a neatly tied white cravat. In his right hand, he holds a piece of paper with writing, while his left hand rests on his lap near a chain with small ornaments. The background shows a deep green drapery on one side and a plain, light beige wall on the other.
