This painting is a portrait of a seated man, seen from the waist up. The man's torso is turned slightly to the left, with his head turned to look at us. He has pale skin with high cheekbones, straight eyebrows, and thin lips set in a neutral expression. His hair is gray and appears to be tied in a low ponytail behind his head, with some curls around his ears. He is wearing a dark coat over a white shirt with a high collar. The background is blur of brown, and the chair he sits on is dark red.
