Self-portrait

David Davidovich Burliuk · 1927 · charcoal on wove paper ·  Accession ID  2009.70.64

The image features a detailed portrait of an individual from the head to the upper shoulders, almost entirely front-facing. The person's head is slightly tilted upwards. The drawing showcases distinct facial features, including deep-set eyes looking upwards, pronounced cheekbones, and slightly parted lips. The shading emphasizes wrinkles and expressions on the face. The individual has long, straight hair that falls over their shoulders and frames their face. They are depicted wearing a garment over their head and shoulders. The drawing is monochromatic, likely created using pencil or charcoal, adding texture to the hair and fabric. The background is plain. The bottom left corner bears the inscription "A. Caselli," while the number "32" is noted in the upper right corner.
