Five members of the Wind Quintet of the Berliner Philharmoniker
Join us for a program dedicated to German-American friendship, featuring works by Jacques Ibert, Samuel Barber, Paul Taffanel, and Luciano Berio. Founded in 1882, the Berliner Philharmoniker is recognized worldwide for musical excellence. The orchestra first toured in spring 1955 and continues to regularly tour the US and abroad. Kirill Petrenko has been the chief conductor and artistic director since 2019. More than 30 permanent ensembles have been formed within the orchestra, including for official occasions.
This Wind Quintet is made up of Berliner Philharmoniker members Jelka Weber (flute), Dominik Wollenweber (oboe), Andraž Golob (clarinet), Václav Vonášek (bassoon), and Johannes Lamotke (horn).
Presented in cooperation with the German Embassy in Washington, DC, in celebration of German-American Day and America’s 250th Anniversary.
