Artist, Dutch, 1606 - 1669

The image depicts a seated woman holding a child, both visible from the waist up. The woman is shown in a sitting position, cradling the child in her arms. Her face is softly sketched with a gentle expression. She is wearing flowing robes with intricate details, and her hair is mostly covered by a draped hood. The child is wrapped in a swaddling cloth and is close to the woman. The background is composed of hatched lines radiating outwards with faint outlines resembling clouds or abstract shapes.
