The structures extend upwards in the upper half of the image, with a circular building topped by a dome and a tower on the left. The detailed brushstroke technique conveys textures and shading for depth and dimension. The monochromatic color palette uses varying intensities of black and white to create contrast. Two tall trees are in the foreground, with smaller trees and shrubbery scattered across a sloping landscape. The middle section shows closely grouped buildings, typical of an old city on a hillside.
